photogram abc poster

Cool for a kid’s room - photogram ABC poster ($68) from Spring3D.
Winner in the category of typography - AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts)- the Photogram Alphabet is composed of found, recycled, and reused objects. Each letter is created by capturing the shadow of an object without any distortion of scale with all the objects photographed together.

record album frame

image from cb2 catalog
I love this idea for displaying a photo. Have it blown up to a large poster size, then cut into squares and frame with square record album frames. You could also use this with a rasterbated photo or a poster printed on multiple pages with your home printer (use blockposters or posteriza to break the photo into multiple pages).
flock photography

Tom wrote to me about his new site, Flock Photography. He is a UK-based photographer who created Flock Photography for people looking for affordable and different photography for interior decoration. The site allows you to search for photographs based on criteria such as which room it will be in, the style of decor and (my favorite) paint color - you can search for a photo to complement or match a manufactured paint color, though only two brands of paint are available. now. The site is still a work in progress and Tom hopes to add other photographers’ work to the site. Still, it’s a pretty cool idea for anyone looking to pick up some fairly inexpensive artwork for their homes.
lunastrella camera print

Saw this cool retro camera print on Decor8 and had to post. Available on John W. Golden’s Etsy site, the Lunastrella Camera print ($30).
where the wild things are: photomural closet and photo pillows

Cool and creative use of photography with this photo-forested bedroom by Jane and Darko (as seen in the latest issue of O at Home). View a slide show of their home here.
Jane and Darko disguised a row of freestanding Ikea closets with a photomural they custom ordered from gallerystreet.com. The couple chose a photograph they took while hiking near New Paltz, New York. “We sent the company an eight-by-ten-inch print,” Jane says. “You give them the dimensions of your wall, and they send the mural back to you in rolls just like wallpaper.” Find similar products at environmentalgraphics.com or muralsyourway.com.
The bed is made up with forest-print pillows from gallerystreet.com (using photographs taken by the couple).
